  1. HISTORY OF TUDARCO

Tumaini University was founded by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) in 1997. The main Campus of Tumaini University is located at Usa

River (Makumira) near Arusha. Currently Tumaini University consists of five constituent Colleges: Iringa University College (IUCo) in Iringa; Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College (KCM. College) in Moshi; Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo) in Dar es Salaam; Stefano Moshi Memorial University College (SMMUCo) in Moshi; and Sebastian Kolowa University College (SEKUCo) in Lushoto – Tanga. Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo), is currently located at Mwenge along Cocacola road in Dar es Salaam. It also has a campus at the Kurasini Lutheran Congregation. The origins of TUDARCo are embedded in the then Waldorf College Tanzania (WCT) established in 1997 as a branch and later a mission college of Waldorf College, Forest City in Iowa, USA. WCT was a liberal arts college offering, by way of modules, two years of study in Dar es Salaam and another two years in a USA college to complete the Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business Administration and Management Information System. Students had to transfer to USA with between 54 and 60 credits. However, sometime in 2001, the authorities of WCT thought a partnership with Tumaini University would be to its advantage. Consequently, discussions opened between the relevant authorities through their various organs, and eventually in April 2003, TUDARCo was born a constituent college of Tumaini University, joining the then existing three sisters (MUCo, IUCo and KCM College).
